Delaware Sen. Joe Biden's campaign for president gained the support of several prominent Seacoast Democrats on Monday with a list of endorsements, including that of former city Mayor Eileen Dondero Foley.

Foley, her daughter and Portsmouth High School teacher Mary Carey Foley, former state Sen. Bob Preston, Greenland state Rep. Mike Marsh and Stratham Planning Board member Joe Russell also put their support behind Biden, who is planning a tour of the state this summer.

"Senator Biden is a real leader through and through," said Foley, a longtime prominent Democrat. "I'm honored to be a part of his campaign. He has the vision and conviction to put this country back on the right track."

"I'm delighted to endorse Senator Joe Biden for president," said Preston. "He has shown himself to be a true friend of our troops; he has the only plan that will get us out of Iraq without leaving chaos behind us."

Preston serves on the advisory board of the Department of Resources and Economic Development and played an instrumental role on Gov. John Lynch's Save the Shipyard advisory team that helped save the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard from the latest round of base realignment and closure legislation.

Press secretary Evan Carlson said the endorsements are crucial in helping Biden keep up with well-funded candidates like Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

"I'm honored to have the support of these great New Hampshire leaders," said Biden. "I know that their guidance and experience will be invaluable over the course of the campaign."

His camp also announced that state campaign Chairman R. Jim Ryan, D-Franklin, will conduct a statewide campaign tour that will cover all 254 towns in the state. Ryan has already attended meetings in 24 towns including Berlin, Manchester, Portsmouth and Laconia. Throughout the summer and fall, the campaign will visit the remaining 230 communities all over the state to learn more about what people want from their next president and incorporate what they learn into the campaign.
