More debates lined up as primary gets closer

CONCORD -- Organizers have doubled the debates before New Hampshire's first in the nation primary, bringing the number Wednesday to eight.

ABC News, the New Hampshire Union Leader and WMUR-TV will produce a debate for Republican presidential candidates on Oct. 14. The sessions will be filmed in Manchester and aired during "This Week with George Stephanopoulos." The Democrats will follow on Oct. 21.

Another pair will be scheduled after New Hampshire Secretary of State Bill Gardner schedules the primary. He hasn't scheduled it yet in order to preserve the state's treasured first in the nation status.

CNN, WMUR-TV and the New Hampshire Union Leader will have the first debates April 4 and 5 at Manchester's Saint Anselm College.
